We would prefer that if you join the Tau'ri, your name be a complete one. I.e.:
first and last names, all earth sounding.
If you become a Goa'uld--be it Tok'ra, System Lord, or Jaffa Rebellion--it be
Goa'uld-ish sounding.
The same applies for the rest of the races.
